IB Maths AA rewards method, not just answers. These notes follow the Analysis and Approaches syllabus topic by topic, with SL and HL in one note and HL-only content clearly tagged. Every worked example shows where the M1 and A1 marks come from, every formula says whether it is in the formula booklet, and every Paper 2 skill comes with the GDC steps. The notes are written for students sitting the new syllabus (first exams May 2029) and still work for exams up to November 2028.
What every note gives you
- SL and HL in one note. HL-only parts carry an HL ONLY tag, so SL students can skip them.
- Formula booklet tags. You see at a glance what is given in the exam and what you must learn.
- Marked like the markscheme. Worked examples show the M1, A1 and R1 marks, so you know what to write.
- Paper 1 and Paper 2 skills. Non-calculator methods, plus GDC steps for Paper 2.
- 2029 syllabus status. Each topic says whether anything changes for May 2029 exams.
- Exam-style questions with answers, and free practice papers in the Paper Generator.

Frequently asked questions
Do these notes follow the new 2029 IB Maths syllabus?
Yes. The new AA course is first examined in May 2029. Its content is the current course with a few topics removed (financial applications and bivariate statistics, plus Euler’s method and proof by counterexample at HL). Each note says if any of its content is affected. Students sitting exams up to November 2028 can use the same notes.
Are the notes for SL or HL?
Both. Each note covers the SL content first and tags the extra HL (AHL) content HL ONLY.
Do I need to memorise every formula?
No. The IB formula booklet is given in every exam. These notes tag booklet formulas FORMULA BOOKLET and tag the results you must learn yourself.
How should I revise with these notes?
Read one note, cover the worked examples and try them, then do the Test yourself questions. Finish with a timed paper from the free IB Paper Generator.
Who writes the notes?
Riyaz Shaikh ("Riyaz Sir"), a Mumbai-based mentor with 15+ years of experience teaching IB, IGCSE and A Level maths and physics one-to-one.
Are these official IB notes?
No. They are independent notes, not produced or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
