The new IB Physics course (first exams 2025) is organised in five themes, A to E, with topic codes such as A.1 Kinematics and D.2 Electric and magnetic fields. These notes follow that structure exactly, so you can find any topic by its code. SL and HL are in one note, with additional higher level content tagged HL ONLY. Each note tags the equations given in the data booklet, works through exam-style examples step by step and builds the data skills tested in Paper 1B: graphs, gradients, uncertainties and error bars.
What every note gives you
- New syllabus only. Topic codes A.1 to E.5, matching the guide for first exams 2025.
- SL and HL in one note, with additional HL content tagged HL ONLY.
- Data booklet tags, so you know which equations are given and which ideas you must explain in words.
- Paper 1B data skills: linearising graphs, gradients and uncertainties, built into every topic.
- Worked examples step by step, with units and significant figures handled the way examiners expect.
- Linking questions and IA ideas, because the new course tests how topics connect.

Frequently asked questions
Do these notes follow the new IB Physics syllabus?
Yes. They follow the IB Physics guide for first assessment 2025, organised in themes A (space, time and motion) to E (nuclear and quantum physics).
Which topics are HL only?
A.4 Rigid body mechanics, A.5 Galilean and special relativity, B.4 Thermodynamics, D.4 Induction and E.2 Quantum physics are HL only. Several other topics also have extra HL content, tagged HL ONLY inside the note.
Do I need to memorise the equations?
Most equations are in the data booklet given in the exam. The notes tag those DATA BOOKLET and point out the definitions and explanations you must learn yourself.
What is Paper 1B?
Paper 1B has data-based questions, often from an experiment. You read graphs, find gradients and handle uncertainties. Every note includes these skills for its topic.
Who writes the notes?
Riyaz Shaikh ("Riyaz Sir"), a Mumbai-based mentor with 15+ years of experience teaching IB, IGCSE and A Level physics and maths one-to-one.
Are these official IB notes?
No. They are independent notes, not produced or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
